Meet Jalen

A fifth generation  Greenvillian, Jalen got his political start learning grassroots organizing interning for the Barack Obama Presidential campaign in 2008 while a freshman in high school. Since then he has served as President of the Young Democrats of Greenville County from 2016-2018, winning YDSC Chapter of the Year in 2017. From, 2018-2020, Jalen served as 1st Vice Chair of the Greenville County Democratic Party, playing a pivotal role in organizing to elect Democrats locally in Greenville. Jalen is a 2018 graduate of the Clyburn Fellowship.

In the last few years Jalen has garnered a national reputation by being a veteran of over 40 political campaigns and voter engagement initiatives across the nation.

Outside of politics, Jalen is a community organizer who has organized around the challenge of gentrification and other social equity issues in Greenville for several years.

He is a graduate of Leadership Greenville Class 47. He is also Co-Chair of the Research Team of the Community Remembrance Project, a local coalition partnered with the Equal Justice Initiative, to honor victims of racial terror lynchings in Greenville County.

Jalen has emerged as one of the top political operatives in the Palmetto state. The last two years have allowed Jalen to build relationships with county party leaders and gain experience nationwide that will be used to push South Carolina. Jalen has a track record to run on.
